Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long will my mattress last?

Mattresses typically last between 7-10 years, however there are many variables that influence the longevity of your mattress. We recommend using a mattress protector to help extend the life of your mattress.

  • What is the best type of mattress for me?

The best mattress for you depends on your preference. If you're looking for more support, one of our Ascend or Peak hybrid options would be best for you. If you want the contouring feel of pure memory foam, you'd like the Embark mattress.

  • What size mattress do I need?

The best size mattress for each person depends on a variety of factors—room size, who will be sleeping in the bed, etc. A Split King is very popular as both you and your partner can control your own side of the bed when paired with an adjustable base. You can view our mattress size guide [link] or mattress comparison chart [link] to learn more.

  • How soft or firm do I need my mattress?

This is dependent on preference. It is important to note that a mattress feel isn't limited to these two categories. There are a variety of options available to you based on your sleep style and personal preference. Typically, side sleepers or those with back pain opt for a more plush option, while those who sleep on their back or stomach will prefer a firmer mattress.

  • Do I need a box spring for my mattress?

No. All Malouf mattresses are made to work with any flat foundation without the need for a box spring. Simply place your base directly on an adjustable base, flat frame, or Malouf upholstered platform base.

  • Will my mattress work with an adjustable bed base?

Yes. All Malouf mattresses are made to be compatible with an adjustable bed base for optimal comfort.

  • Do I need a mattress protector?

Yes. We recommend using a mattress protector to protect your investment from spills, stains, and dust mites. The warranty on your mattress will also be voided if you do not use a mattress protector. All Malouf mattress purchases come with a five-sided smooth mattress protector and the option to upgrade.

  • What is a hybrid mattress?

A hybrid mattress combines the benefit of innerspring coils with multiple layers of foams to satisfy a variety of sleep styles and preferences. They offer better support and can relieve pressure points in the hips, back, and shoulders.

  • What are AltiCoils?

Our AltiCoil™ comfort layer is part of our Peak line of mattresses. They are miniature coils located under the top layer of foam that are super responsive and compress and expand for more targeted relief. They flex with your body so you can experience optimal comfort and support.

  • How can I find sheets for my Split King mattress?

All Malouf sheets are available in a Split King option that has two fitted sheets, one flat sheet, and pillowcases, so it is easy for you to upgrade your sleep with everything you need to outfit your new bed.

  • Will my mattress come in a box?

Yes. All Malouf mattresses are compressed and rolled in a box, making them easy to transport to your bedroom upon delivery. Setup is easy—all you need to do is open your mattress and let it decompress for 24 hours before sleeping on it.

  • What is the difference between the ActivAir™, CoolSync™, and AeroFlex™ materials?

ActivAir foam is available in our Peak line and is the perfect blend of contouring and responsive support. It is considered medium-firm in feel and is loved by all sleep styles. CoolSync foam is available in all three mattress lines. It is cooler than regular memory foam and is perfect for those who sleep hot. It has the contouring feel of memory foam and is considered more plush. AeroFlex latex foam is available in our Ascend line. It has a supportive, quick-response feel that offers firm support while lightly contouring with the body.

  • Does Malouf offer a sleep trial?

Yes, we do. All Malouf mattresses qualify for a 100-night sleep trial. Because it takes time for your body to adjust to a new mattress, we ask that you sleep on the mattress for a minimum of 30 days. If after 30 days you are not satisfied with your purchase, you may initiate a return. Items will only qualify for a full refund if a mattress protector was used during the trial period.

  • How long is the mattress warranty?

The Malouf mattress warranty is available for 10 years from purchase date. Customers must use a mattress protector on their mattress, or it will void the warranty.

  • Who do I reach out to for questions?
